The Intensive Lecture Series

The KNU Mathematics Lecture Series is aimed at in-depth understanding of various basic topics in the fields of mathematics, and mutual exchange between researchers and graduate students in related fields. Each series consists of 10 lectures of 1 – 1.5 hours, and each lecture is at the level of 1st and 2nd year graduate school.

Forthcoming Lecture Series

The 1st Thematic Year (2025) — Neumerical PDE and PINN(Physics-Informed Neural Network)

The 2025 KNU Mathematics Intensive Lecture Series is themed around "Numerical PDE," aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of computational methods for partial differential equations. The summer session will focus on the classical Finite Element Method (FEM), covering both theoretical foundations and practical computational aspects. FEM is a robust numerical technique widely used for solving PDEs with complex geometries and boundary conditions, particularly in engineering and physics. The winter session will introduce Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs), a modern machine learning framework that integrates data-driven modeling with physical laws expressed as PDEs. PINNs offer promising capabilities in handling high-dimensional problems and scenarios with limited data, where traditional numerical methods may struggle. This thematic series seeks to bridge classical numerical analysis and contemporary deep learning approaches, fostering a unified perspective on next-generation scientific computing.
